Do I have to make my African manga characters based off of stereotype?

I'm African American japanese manga artist. I make comic books about African culture and want to present it to Japan. But its not really falling under all the ghetto, gang bangin, gangsta stereotype Boondocks and Afro Samurai. I want to make like Africans performing African martial arts fighting other tribes trying to keep themselves from being sold. Also slaves fighting in death matches for freedom not with just other African slaves but with Asian, Arab, Native slaves and European prisoners from across the globe. How can I make it where it is acceptable but doesn't fall under the stereotype.
